All are welcome, including young athletes ages 6 & older, their parents, and new families who are interested in trying cross country skiing, to join our camp.  Group assignments will be made depending on age and ability.  Classic skis required.  Youth ski rentals are available for pre-registered skiers (registration must be received by November 15th to ensure ski rental).

Cost: GMNC members – $15 per day; non-members – $20 per day; includes lunch and all camp activities.
Registration forms can be found on the Grand Mesa Gliders’ website http://gmgliders.blogspot.com/, or, email gmgliders@gmail.com to request a copy.

Glider’s Assistant Coach Opportunities

Our Glider’s youth program is in need of assistant coaches.    A coaches’ clinic will take place the weekend of November 20th and 21st in conjunction with the Glider’s Fall Ski Camp.   Registration needs to be made in advance so we can buy you lunch and size you up for the nifty jacket you’ll be sporting.

This is a great way to get in some additional snow time and assist in the development of our next generation of members, racers and beyond.  Contact gmgliders@gmail.com or call Annie Murphy at 623-4424 or Christina Stark 323-3314 for your place in what is sure to be another rewarding season.

Ski Swappin’

With ski swap season upon us, why not check the quiver and thin out what you don’t need?   Use our online, ongoing gear swap feature to reach the largest Nordic consumer group on the Western slope.   We’ll be represented this weekend at the Powderhorn National Ski Patrol swap in Grand Junction with an information and membership table, thanks to our ever eventing  board member and race director Tom Ela.

Trail Work Day

The season is changing and with any luck, we’ll be skiing soon. Come help us prepare the trails for snow by attending our annual trail maintenance day.

When: Saturday, Oct 16 at 10am
Where: Skyway parking lot
What: walk the ski trails and clear downed trees and branches. Enjoy the great outdoors and meet other GMNC members.

What to bring: Orange clothing (it’s hunting season), gloves, something (clippers?) to cut branches if you can.

If you have been up on the trails already and have found stuff that needs to be cleared, let us know where it’s at. The chainsaw is heavy, and it’s easier if we know exactly where we need to carry it.

Please note that our new operations manager/volunteer coordinator (let’s call him the Coordinator) will be on hand, so this is an opportunity to meet him.

GMNC planning meeting

We’re planning for our future and we want your help. Do you have a proposal or idea to share? We’ll use our May board meeting to brainstorm ideas and work on plans for next year and beyond.

Please join us, Tuesday, May 4th at 6:30 p.m. at Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado’s meeting rooms. (Ground floor next to Spoons Restaurant, 3090 North 12th in GJ.)

For more info on the meeting, email grandmesanordic@gmail.com or call Dave Knutson, 970- 261-1496.

Hope to see you there.
