March 28 Grooming Report

Lots of snow — on we go!  We got another  inches of snow on Friday into Saturday morning, so skiing continues.  Al groomed out most of Skyway (except Will’s Hill and Vista (ridge) — valley was groomed) as well as Loop 3 out to the Lookout, Scales Lake, Kannah Crossing, Dog Trail and Dog Loop over at County Line.  We are trying to conserve our fuel to extend grooming, so that is why we did not groom out all the trails.  We are going to wait on grooming again until Friday afternoon (or Saturday a.m.) at 3 p.m., since most of our traffic is now during the weekends.  Forecast highs for this week will be in the mid 40s through Wednesday — lows tonight in the teens, so should be good skating in the a.m. if you get up early.  Then a front coming through with snow Wednesday through Thursday night, and highs around 30 towards the end of the week, clearing out, with sunny skies for Saturday.  Happy skiing!

Real-time grooming reports!

Want real-time reports on where and when our groomers are grooming?

Check out our new, “Spot the Groomer” web page.

As a safety measure, we’ve equipped our groomers with Spot Satellite Messengers to report in at the beginning and end of their grooming shift with the time and location of where they are grooming. (The devices allow them to report to us–or emergency dispatch if appropriate–in case they need help.)

Our Spot the Groomer website gives you real-time reports of when and where groomers are doing their work. Our grooming crew reports in via their spot at the beginning and end of each grooming session. These Spot reports provide a Google Maps link to where and when the grooming has taken place.

BARNELOPET!

People sure had a good time at the Barnelopet today.
Good job Ron and volunteers!

Thanks to the Sons of Norway, Nordic Council Volunteers, and all the parents who drove racers up to Skyway today. We had great weather and a lot of fun giving lessons and watching our budding racers do a 1k, 2k, or 5k race.

February 28 Grooming Report

February 28 Grooming Report

Al groomed this morning amidst slight falling snow — probably just an inch or two by tomorrow morning — he groomed out Winslow/Sunset, Lion’s (lower), Scales Lake, Loop 3, Dog Trail, Kannah Crossing, Vista (valley only) and Arroyo. Grooming report is attached for more info. Very slight chance of snow tomorrow with Tuesday looking good — highs in the 20s, lows around 12 degrees.

Next grooming scheduled for Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. at Skyway and 9 am at Ward. After that, we won’t groom until Friday late afternoon around 3 pm. Happy skiing!

Record Donations at County Line!

Donations at County Line

To all the Skiers, Snowshoers, and Skiers with dogs:

Just wanted to send a big Thank You to all who contributed in February at County Line.  With Leslie’s, Dave’s and Christie’s promoting of donations, GMNC has done very well at the boxes.  But we had a RECORD breaking amount at County Line box and the table set up February 14.
The total was $759.  This shows that the work being done is appreaciated by those who use the trails.
