Meet the Grooming Crew

Doug Conant
Operations Manager/Volunteer Coordinator

Doug started his work in skiing at Copper Mountain in 1984 making his way from bartender to manager of the mid-mountain lodge. In 1992 his love for the outdoors moved him over to slope maintenance where he groomed the Nordic trails and led a trail crew. Currently he lives in Grand Junction where he designs trail sign programs for recreational entities, grooms now and then at Powderhorn and serves on the city’s Urban Trails Committee. He skis both cross country and telemark extensively and enjoys trail running competitively in the off season.

Jon Canty
Jon Canty is our main groomer for the Skyway/County Line track system. Jon has had a life-long love of snow and snowsports while growing up in Leadville, Colorado. Jon first learned about snowcat grooming while working at Copper Mountain, Colorado, and became a fan of the Grand Mesa after moving to Delta, Colorado. He is an avid cross-country skier, and joined our grooming crew 5 years ago. Jon is especially helpful as he is an ace mechanic and helps keep our snowcat and snowmobiles running smoothly.

Al Fournier
Al is our groomer for Ward Lake and also fills in at Skyway/County Line. Al grew up as a great lover of the outdoors in Colorado. He has been a nordic skier and backcountry skier since he was a teenager and has been grooming for us for several years now. Al also possesses multiple talents as an Instructor and provides both classic and skate lessons during the week and weekends. Al has been snowmobile grooming Ward Lake for several years, but this year took on new responsiblities in learning snowcat operations and providing grooming at Skyway/County Line 2 days a week.
